Florentino was a soldier from Welch, Texas who died three months after his 20th birthday. Welch, Texas is a very small community north of Lamesa, Texas in Dawson County. Lamesa is the county seat. PFC Flores is remembered by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial located in Midland, Texas. May his sacrifice not be forgotten.

A Note from The Virtual WallOn 26 Aug 1970, during the evacuation of Kham Duc, CH-47B helicopters of the 178th ASHC were delivering elements of the 196th Infantry Brigade to LZ Judy. While on final approach to landing the fifth aircraft (tail number 67-18445) was hit by enemy RPG fire, crashed into trees, exploded, and burned. An internal load of 105mm howitzer ammunition contributed to the destruction. Thirty-one men aboard the aircraft died; one (the copilot) is known to have survived. The dead were
