A Note from The Virtual Wall

On February 28, 1970 the lead APC of a resupply convoy headed to Dau Tieng from the battalion forward base detonated an explosive device. The APC was completely destroyed and seven men from HHC were killed:
  • SFC Douglas M. Woodward, Berryville, VA
  • SSG Charles R. Baggett, Rison, AR
  • SGT Eugene Carter, Warrenton, NC
  • SGT Donnie R. Chastain, Greer, SC
  • CPL James P. De Vaney, Goldsboro, NC
  • CPL Robert E. Guthrie, Red Bank, TN
  • CPL Billy J. Roberts, Mesquite, TX
